Milagros "Little Miracles" Opens this Thursday!

We're very excited to announce the opening of our latest exhibition!

We will be displaying the collected works of artists from the Fiber Artist Coalition between
October 10th and October 31st.
There is no entrance fee, and free wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. The opening will run from 7:00pm to 9:00pm October 10th in our ballroom & dining room and is open to the public.

Milagros are small metal figures used to thank Christian saints for fulfilling requests in time of need.  Milagros as a custom accompanied the Spanish as they arrived in the Americas and continues to be a part of folk culture throughout rural areas of Spain as well as in Central and South American and parts of North America.  In Spanish, the word Milagros literally means miracle or surprise. The spirit of Milagros inspires the art in this collection.  Twelve members of the Fiber Arts Coalition and ten guest artists have created 39 pieces offering comfort, hope, peace and strength.

October is Illinois Arts + Humanities Month

The Illinois Arts Council Agency and the Illinois Humanities Council are proud to present the 6th annual Illinois Arts & Humanities Month. Throughout October, all Illinoisans are encouraged to establish, deepen, and expand their relationships with the arts and humanities.

This is a time to reflect upon and celebrate the vital role of the arts and humanities in our individual and shared community life. AH! Month, an expansion of Illinois Arts Week begun in 1978, has lead to hundreds of communities and countless individuals across the Land of Lincoln to become more aware of our state's vast cultural resources and to appreciate their animating force, economic impact, and power to unite.

The David Adler Music and Arts Center is uniting art enthusiasts via monthly exhibitions hosting local and international artists from September through May. The Adler Center has kicked off our exhibition season with acclaimed artist Linda Kollacks, whose paintings can be seen in our gallery through October 3rd. We're proud to feature the fine quilting work of the Fiber Artist Coalition in the month of October. We'll host an opening reception on October 10th from 7pm-9pm for Milagros: "Little Miracles" showcasing the innovative textile art of the FAC.
